After
reading my Phi Theta Kappa text book and listening to class discussion I’ve been
thinking about the mentors I’ve chosen to lead me. Recently I finished reading
a book by an author named Paulo Coelho called “The Alchemist”. It's
an interesting novel written in a simple but attractive way. Coelho's amazing
storytelling powers enable the reader to imagine each scene from the novel.
It's one of those books you cannot put down. It’s a story of a boy who follows
his heart and dream and during that time he met individuals who aligned with
his destination. His heart was pure and he knew the language of the Universe.
It put me into character in my own life, I want to make sure that my dreams and
heart stays alive and this story taught me that I’m not alone on my journey. It
marvels me how in a book an author explains in detail the ways of a boy’s
heart. I thought the book was personally written for me to uncover and help me
see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Counselors
are individuals who are moved by their emotional beliefs and experience. They help
with social skills and make sure people are successful in their tasks. It’s not
up to the counselor to make the individual successful the trainee has to critically
think and process what the counselor is advising the learner to do. Hopefully
the learner will take the valuable information and turn it into the knowledge
they need to find their treasures in life. When you know you were meant to do
great things you feel it deep inside your heart and no one can take that away
from you. I believe once you accomplish those great things you have an
inspirational story to tell that will help someone get closer to their
destination. When I was younger working as a swing manager at McDonalds while
attending school and Evangelism classes I could not understand why it seemed
people would mimic me on unique things I did and said, but now after taking
this Leadership class I see that a displayed qualities that intrigued leaders
and followers. I learnt a long time ago that if you look for good things
(follow your heart) good things will find you. That’s what has kept me moving
when all I see is hardship or even in the easy times. When a young man or woman
steps to me for mentorship I give them keys to door that most men and women do
not know how to open; keys into the hearts and minds of people. I believe it is
a bold statement to say you know the hearts and minds of humans. There has to
be something going on divine inside of a person in order to know someone heart
and mind.
It’s
a cold world sometimes and it seems lonely, but I‘ve learned that I can escape
this long treacherous journey and get closer to a happily ever after when I sit
down and talk to a mentor or read a book that inspires me to press on and
understand that I am not the first to go on a journey and I won’t be the last.
The meaning of life is to find God in you and in others, so that you may understand
you are not alone and love is everywhere you are. To know that you are in love
and love is in you is heaven all on its own, but when you find out love is in
those who love you and help you. You find an everlasting Kingdom of joy a place
of shelter in order to regain your internal comfort that nourishes of faith,
hope, and love.
My
life is divine there is no doubt in my mind that I’m called to do great things
I can feel an ever increasing joy within that is growing stronger each year. I’ve
learned to become one with my internal peace and make it move through my hands,
head, and down to my feet. There is nothing greater than to know that the
closer you get to your treasure the more you understand your connection with
your mentors and they are not only one with love they are one with you.
